Breath tests for the diagnosis of lactose and fructose intolerance.

Indication: LACTO-KIT and FRUCTO-KIT are breath tests indicated for adults and children over 5 years of age with digestive symptoms such as flatulence, meteorism, diarrhea, etc., associated with the ingestion of foods naturally containing lactose and/or fructose, such as dairy products, fruits, vegetables, vegetables, honey; or processed products and beverages in which they are added as ingredients.

What will you receive? Two complete kits, each containing:

  • 1 sachet of lactose monohydrate (25 g) / 1 sachet of granulated crystalline fructose (25 g).
  • 8 glass tubes: 1 for BASAL sample collection and 7 for POST sample collection.
  • 2 flexible tubes.
  • Identification labels.
  • Instructions for use.

IMPORTANT: Remember that a minimum of one week must elapse between taking two tests.

Description

Lactose and fructose are normally absorbed in the small intestine. If there is malabsorption, they reach the large intestine intact, where they are metabolized by the microbiota. In this process hydrogen and/or methane gases are generated, which are absorbed, pass into the bloodstream and are transported by the blood to the lungs, where they are eliminated with the exhaled air. Thus, an increase in the concentration of these gases in the breath after administration of lactose and/or fructose indicates that they have not been absorbed correctly and, therefore, there may be malabsorption or intolerance to lactose and/or fructose.

This product (LACTO-KIT) contains lactose. Patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, Lapp's lactase insufficiency or glucose or galactose malabsorption should not take this product. This product (LACTO-KIT) may contain traces of milk. Patients with milk protein allergy should not use this product. This product (FRUCTO-KIT) contains fructose. Patients with hereditary fructose intolerance should not use this product.
